THE GIANFIGLIAZZI TOWER IS A HISTORICAL TOWER WITH A RICH HISTORY, INHABITED BY AN IMPORTANT ANCESTOR
The tower, with it’s perfectly crenellated crowning, is part of the fourteenth-century Gianfigliazzi palace, a well-known Guelfa family who were part if the leading Florentine social class. The family emblem is a blue rampant lion in a gold field, still now visible along the facade, reproduced in 4 stone examples.
THE TOWER AND ITS ROOMS: INSPIRATIONS AND REASONS OF THE FLORENTINE RENAISSANCE
Via de Tornabuoni is one of the most elegant streets in Florence's historical center, and since the renaissance, home of the most important noble properties in the city. Antica Torre is at number 1, in an incredible position which is perfect for those who love to admire the city from above.
Thanks to its two beautiful terraces, "The Arno terrace" and "the duomo terrace", there is a 360 degree view: the Santa Maria del Fiore dome; the hills of Fiesole and Settignano; Santa Trinita bridge; via Maggio; the church of San Miniato al Monte; the Belvedere fort and the hills of Bellosguardo.
In each room, the family's furniture, light shades and rugs have been kept, as much as possible due to wear and tear over time. The rest of the furnishings have been made by Florentine artisans, following only one inspiration - Ghirlandaio's renaissance, with his harmonious and soft style, bright colors and delicate outlines.
